Journey with Joy

Journey with Joy

As I’m beginning to write, these Sunday school song lyrics are in my mind:
I’ve got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart
Where?
Down in my heart!
Where?
Down in my heart!
I’ve got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart
Down in my heart to stay

Joy is defined as a feeling of great pleasure and happiness. Personally speaking, it is often the simple things that bring me the greatest joy. We have recently had a lot of rain in Oklahoma, and I am always on the lookout to see a rainbow when it rains. Traveling home from Tulsa last week, I was eager and excited to catch a glimpse of one beginning to form.

Subsequently, I was delighted to view an entire one from end to end. Sensing my joy, my husband offered to pull the truck over several times, so I could fully embody the experience rather than whizzing by at 65 mph.

I snapped several images, yet the vibrancy and expansiveness were unable to be captured fully. Nevertheless, here are two of the images from that moment in time.

Of course, this is just one example. I believe that it is essential for each one of us to become aware of how we’re investing our emotional, mental, financial, and physical energy, and then choosing to recognize whether these activities bring us joy, connection, nurturing, rest, and creativity to our lives.

When we focus on bringing love and joy to our life or perhaps just allowing it to happen rather than bringing, it will have a ripple effect throughout our life. A simple affirmation can assist us with this process.

Affirm ~ My heart overflows with gratitude and joy. I am conscious of being present in this moment. I recognize that I am love and I am loved. I am allowing myself to simply breathe.

What makes you happy? How do you journey with joy?

Journey with Compassion for Self

Journey with Compassion for Self

Compassion is defined as a strong feeling of empathy and perhaps even sympathy and sadness for other people’s suffering along with a desire to help.

My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style. ~ Maya Angelou

As I often state, being human can be “tough” sometimes! This journey into consciousness reminds us of the need to have compassion for ourselves and those around us. During the January 21 breathwork session at H2Oasis Float Center & Tea House (read more about my experiences on the blog titled Journey with Breathwork), a friend and fellow attendee received this message from Spirit, “Many times, we are all too hard on ourselves. We are strong enough to endure this human life experience, and we need to be reminded of this periodically. It is essential that we have as much compassion for ourselves as we so often extend to others. In other words, we need to be easier on ourselves and much kinder.”

Heart-centered living involves practicing self-love, which is compassion for self. When we choose to accept and practice heart-centered living, we understand that we are the central point of creation of our personal reality – we are the center of our Universe.

If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion. ~ Dalai Lama

Until we are able to fully understand love, both personally and experientially, which includes learning to love ourselves, we are of little value to those around us. Of course, this has nothing to do with selfishness, but with being awake and aware enough to know that we can only give what we are and what we have. Therefore, if we do not have love within us and for ourselves, how can we give love, kindness, respect or compassion to others?

Journey with Breathwork

Journey with Breathwork

I recently had the opportunity to experience ceremonial breathwork at H2Oasis Float Center & Tea in Tulsa, OK. The first experience was on January 1, followed by additional experiences on January 7 and January 21 with each experience being unique. Undoubtedly, the collective energy and synergy of those in attendance contributed to the experience.

H2Oasis Float Center & Tea House Facebook event notes the following on ceremonial breathwork:

Artist Katherine Skaggs 2017

“For centuries, mystics have believed the breath to be the seat of the soul, which corresponds to the activation of the Pineal Gland or the Third Eye Awakening. This, in essence, is the awakening of the soul. Breathwork is a powerful self-healing modality that can free up the mental, emotional, physical and spiritual bodies. With conscious breath, there is an opportunity to resolve trauma, remember our essential nature, and access trance states of consciousness in which we can resolve core issues or gain insight into the nature of reality. When conscious connected breathing is sustained for long enough, the old stresses, emotions, trauma, repressed and suppressed experiences can rise to the surface to be resolved. The result is usually deep relaxation and expanded awareness.”

They continue by stating, “Through ceremony and inward journeying, we’ll explore the connection between the wisdom of Gaia, heart-centering and cosmic energies. Shela, Deb and Jaylene will use their gifts to support and enhance your experience. They will hold sacred space for you to open to channel and align with your highest human potential. Come experience non-ordinary states of consciousness in a safe and healing environment. Participants can expect: Grounding and intention setting, guided meditation to connect body and breath, 90-120 minutes of circular breathing to a customized playlist (three energetic waves) and integration. May include the use of any or none of the following: channeling, activations, Reiki, mapacho, essences, sound therapy, shamanic work, cacao and more (each session varies depending on the group energetics).”

Without providing all of the details, here are the highlights of what I experienced during each session:

January 1 – Since it was my first experience, I was “testing the waters,” so to speak and wanted to maintain as much control as I could. Allowing myself to ease into the circular breathing and opting to breathe through my nostrils (rather than through my mouth), the playlist of songs chosen ran the gamut of pulsating, intense energies to gentle serenity. At one point, I saw a warrior Goddess in my mind’s eye and heard the name Athena. The message coming through reminded me that I (and all women) can be both a warrior and a Goddess at the same time – that both archetypes serve a purpose. The word pleasure came through very loudly with Spirit saying it is time to enjoy pleasure in all of its forms. Oh my goodness are the words I would use to summarize the experience with an extreme emphasis on “oh…my!”

January 7 – Feeling safe and comfortable, I was open and receptive to experience whatever came through without hesitation and opted to breathe through my mouth this time. I summed the session up with the words, “Holy F*ck!” The journey began, and I saw myself as a blue whale, a mermaid, and then a serpent. I visited Lemuria and ancient Egypt where I hung out with Isis, Anubis and Ra. I brought light to the darkness, became a tree of life and experienced the crucifixion as Jesus. My body got quite the workout, and I was exhausted from the experience. Most of the journey was very symbolic and may even be perceived as an egoic death.

January 21 – The two weeks between sessions had been very emotional for me. My grandmother (Nanny) experienced an aneurysm on January 10 and passed away on January 15 with her service being held on January 18. Our sweet dachshund Odie also passed on January 16.

My intention for this session was clarity and connection. Thankfully, the energy was calming and comforting, which is exactly what my body, mind and spirit needed. I would summarize the experience as exquisite. Shakti, the Divine Feminine energy, was palpable. I could feel Mother Mary’s presence and at one point saw an image in my mind of a print titled, “Presence Heals,” that I have hanging in my Reiki cabin. I then saw myself in that image being held by my grandmother. The next song sounded like opera music with a woman singing. I immediately remembered hearing my Nanny sing and became very emotional as if the song were being sung to me. I felt unconditional Divine love and was reminded that I am loved and also the energy of love.

These three experiences have provided me with an opportunity to delve deeper. Through the altered state of consciousness via breathwork, the breathwork journey and its accompanying extreme heightened senses have enhanced my own abilities and offered additional peace in my life. I am ready to explore some more and am looking forward to the next opportunity.

Keep Showing Up

Keep Showing Up

I believe that now, more than ever, it is essential that we “show up” and engage fully in our human life experience. Read Just Show Up on my Journey into Consciousness blog from a few months ago.

I hear a lot of people discussing their lives, and they are wishing, waiting and hoping for tomorrow, the next “big thing” or even ascension (talking about 5D stuff).

One thing I’ve realized is that life happens…we can make the most of every experience or we can simply exist and live a life of regret. F*ck that! (Yes, I’m feeling some pretty strong emotions at this moment, so please bear with me.)

Life (longevity) is too d*mn short! We never know what could happen (even if we are tuned in) or when our last breath could be. Say the things you want to say. Do the things you want to do. Most of all, be happy. Live life to the fullest and enjoy every moment of every experience. Feel everything even when it’s uncomfortable to do so. Remember, to breathe. And, one more thing, stop beating yourself up and being critical of your choices, how you look, what you feel, and even those around you, too!

Jeff Brown’s quote speaks volumes and reminds us to let others have their human life experience as well.

It’s important to meet people where they are, not where we want them to be. There is a tendency, in many, to re-characterize people’s experiences without being asked. You tell them you are feeling badly, they tell you all the reasons you should feel good. You tell them you are challenged by your circumstances, they tell you what they think you can do to make things easier. You tell them that you have a plan to do something, they offer up another plan for you. There is a place for these offerings – particularly when requested – but often times they just make things worse. In fact, we are more likely to arrive at the next best place on our journeys when someone actually attunes to where we are at, without making any effort to improve upon or re-frame it. We don’t need to be saved – we need to be seen. That’s the healing, right there. I hear you, I see you, I honor your choices, goes a long, long way…~ Jeff Brown

Just Show Up

Just Show Up

I had the pleasure of joining Marilyn Harper for a Power of Two Eclipse Channeling at Unity Village, MO on August 21. Basking in the beautiful energy of the eclipse and Unity Village, I remember feeling extremely blessed and grateful to simply be alive and truly living.

This message came through very strongly from Spirit during the channeling:

We are all teachers. We are all messengers. We are all in this space of learning and growing. Our purpose is to just show up as who we are in this physical body for this experience and just show up. Just be in the moment. Just have an experience. No need to define it. No need to label it. Say it’s “good” or “bad” or this or that or whatever it may be. Just show up.

Facebook memories reminded me that I shared a similar message from Debbie Ford a few years ago. She states, “The greatest act of courage is to be and to own all of who you are – without apology, without excuses, without masks to cover the truth of who you are.”

Jeff Brown offers another perspective on this topic. He shares, “Real Intimacy is a meeting between two souls, an invitation to meet each other exactly where they are, without expectation or agenda. It doesn’t demand gifts and benefits, sexual prowess, conditional offerings. It merely asks you to show up as you are, fully revealed and present. It invites you to shed your masks, disguises and adaptations, and to drop into whatever is real for you in that moment. Real intimacy meets you where you live, not where you or anyone else wants you to live. It’s the big sigh of relief that arises when you finally know that you don’t have to put on a show to feel accepted. Here we are, just as we are. Hello.”

As I’ve stated many times, being human can be “tough” sometimes and so can this journey into consciousness. Do your best to just be you. Communicate what you are feeling and communicate clearly. Don’t make others read between the lines. Spell it out for them if necessary. Honor the emotions that you are feeling. Don’t be critical or feel that you shouldn’t feel anger, frustration or any of the other heavier emotions. Acknowledge what you are feeling and then do your best to move through them.

Remember to just keep showing up and have a human life experience!
