Journey with Support

marcelproustquote

Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners
who make our souls blossom
. ~ Marcel Proust

We are not alone on this journey…

Every human being desires to not only feel loved, but to give love as well. It is innate within each one of us to want to connect with others, to want to be open and to live an authentic life. We want to love and to be loved in return. Expressing love and sharing kindness takes such a small effort, yet has an enormous effect. This ripple of love surpasses anything anyone could imagine if they would simply allow this love to come in. There is an essential need for people to grow together, support one another and walk together as both human companions and soul companions.

Recognizing your connection to those people who are in your life today will assist you in understanding the important roles we play in each other’s lives. Please remember though to not compare your journey to anyone else’s journey as we are all having our own unique human life experiences. As fellow travelers on this journey into consciousness, let’s be happy for one another, celebrate the accomplishments and be supportive during the challenging times.

Personally speaking, I’ve had relationships with both friends and colleagues shift and change. It isn’t a bad thing per se, it just happens. My true friends know that I am always a phone call, text or email away if they need me. Some of my friends I am in daily contact with. Others, there may be days, weeks and even months that go by with very little contact, yet once we do talk; it’s as if no time has passed. To me, that is what true friendship is all about.

Some people feel hurt and neglected if they have friends who aren’t “daily connection” friends. When you feel this way, honor yourself and what you are feeling and then ask yourself a few questions. Have you reached out to those friends in your life? Have you let them know that you miss them or that you need them? Have you been the kind of friend to them that you want them to be? Friendship is most definitely a 2-way street.

Ultimately, we are here to support, encourage and love one another for this human life experience.

Faith is Everything

Faith is Everything

Faith is believing that the outcome will be what it should be, no matter what it is.
~ Colette Baron-Reid

First of all, please know that my intention for sharing this experience is purely to express what I learned, and it is not to be malicious or cause harm to anyone. For the interest of privacy, I have not named names or places as it does not add to or take away from the story itself.

The event I will be referring to was initially scheduled in early February and was to be held in early April. I had been corresponding with one of the co-owners of the space, but not the other. I asked several times as I had a feeling the other co-owner would not be receptive to a Messages from Spirit gallery reading event due to her faith. I was assured that it was not a problem.

Advertising for this event began as soon as it was confirmed and included postcards and flyers distributed to various locations via numerous friends, Facebook, Twitter, website, blog, constant contact mailing and via my radio show. 10 advance tickets were sold, yet tickets were also to be sold at the door (the actual amount of tickets possibly sold are an unknown variable).

A colleague flew in from New York to join me for the event and also work the Spirit Fair that weekend. We had visited the space twice earlier in the day. I received a call from the event manager at 3:40 pm just as I was preparing to leave the hotel. He indicated the space was double booked, which did not make sense to me, so I asked him to please tell me the truth in regards to this situation to which he stated religious beliefs/faith. He offered an additional venue, but it would have required rerouting the attendees. After discussing the viability of this option, we decided it would be best energetically to not do that.

Personally speaking, I was in complete shock when I received the call even though I had the knowingness from the beginning that the other co-owner would not be receptive. This is the first time this type of experience has happened to me, and I do feel discriminated against to a degree. I do honor and respect other individual’s personal and religious beliefs, and I do make a conscious effort to not make anyone purposefully uncomfortable.

With that being said, the Universe provided me with many lessons that night:

  1. Everything always happens for a reason.
  2. You cannot control what is beyond your control.
  3. Faith is huge – both religiously speaking and spiritually speaking.
  4. Don’t take things personally.
  5. ALWAYS see the blessings within the challenges.
  6. Definitely honor and feel your emotions (Yes, that night was quite an emotional rollercoaster!)

The blessings within the challenge allowed my colleague and I to have a nice dinner and conscious conversation, of which we probably would not have had time for. The Universe via the restaurant blessed us with a free dinner since they had issues with our meal. We were rested and worked the Spirit fair that weekend. Lastly, I was able to learn how to handle an experience such as this. If my colleague had not been a part of it and taken charge of the situation, I would have taken ownership of what was beyond my control and done what I could to make it right that evening.

As I’ve stated before, there are two ways to view everything – through the eyes of love and through the eyes of fear. Love is a heart-spaced higher vibrational energy; whereas fear comprises every emotion that is not love, including worry, fear, doubt, regret, guilt, shame, frustration and so on. Choosing to stay in the heart-space and see every individual and experience through the Higher vibration of love is essential for our journey into consciousness. Having the courage to express your beliefs to others and not being afraid of what they might think involves faith and fortitude. In addition, having the courage to honor another individual’s faith and beliefs is equally essential.

What’s faith have to do with it? Everything!

Journey with Empowerment

Journey with Empowerment

As an Intuitive Medium, Reiki Master and Spiritual Growth Coach, my purpose is to assist others on their journey into consciousness by empowering them to recognize and acknowledge the guidance they are receiving for themselves. Our solar plexus chakra is the energetic center of our knowingness, also referred to as our “gut instinct.” As we tune into this power center, we become more empowered to stand in our power and to feel safe in shining our Light bright.

shinelight

What does standing in your power mean?
When you allow yourself to be who you really are with all people all of the time, you are exhibiting the courage and strength to be seen and heard. I refer to this courage as standing in your power. This involves communicating your needs and desires to others as well as to yourself. Standing in your power simply means “owning” what you believe to be true and then speaking your truth. Emanating this power in your words and actions requires no thought when you become accustomed to doing so.

Throughout your life, some people may try to control you or the choices you are making. When you allow this to happen, you are either consciously or subconsciously giving your power away to another. Do you recognize when this happens? How does it make you feel?

Any time a pattern or experience repeats itself, it is important to acknowledge it and then allow yourself to see things from a Higher perspective. These experiences will continue to repeat themselves until you recognize the lesson the experience is offering. You may ask – What am I supposed to learn from this experience. Why do I feel this way?

8 Steps to Become Empowered

  1. Ground and center your energy while consciously bringing your energy to this present moment. You are in the flow of manifestation when you are living in the here and now rather than dwelling in the past or planning the future.
  2. Have the courage to be who you are always and in all ways. There is no need to carry the energy of what others may think or say about you. Each one of us is having our own human life experience. Choose to honor your experience as well as everyone else’s experience.
  3. Say what you mean to say. When you speak your truth, you will recognize the importance of hearing the truth from others. Be mindful when communicating and discern if you are coming from a place of love or fear/lack. Communicate your needs and desires to yourself and to others. Don’t assume that everyone can read your mind – you have to speak up.
  4. Listen to what your body is telling you. Pay attention to the sensations that you feel physically. As you heighten your awareness and tune in, you will be accustomed to recognizing this communication.
  5. Surrender and release to Spirit/the Universe anything you cannot control. The five things you can actually control are your own thoughts, words, actions, emotions and reactions.
  6. Choose to be conscious of the energy you are emitting. Are you sending mixed signals to the Universe with your thoughts/words and actions? When you align your thoughts, words and actions with your beliefs, you are walking your talk and talking your walk.
  7. Trust the guidance you are receiving. You may not understand the how, when, why, what, where aspects, but it is important to acknowledge the guidance you are receiving and express your gratitude for receiving it.
  8. Be patient with your progress. Cease the mind chatter and negative self-talk. Honor yourself and what you are feeling.

Practicing Mindfulness

Practicing Mindfulness

mindful

Mindfulness helps you to touch the wonders of life for self-nourishment and healing.
~
Thich Nhat Hanh

Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh (Tik · N’yat · Hawn) is a spiritual leader, author, poet and peace activist, who is respected throughout the world for his powerful teachings on mindfulness and peace. Among his many important teachings is that in order to heighten one’s awareness, it is essential to be mindful of all that is experienced in each and every moment. He teaches that incorporating enhanced awareness into our daily life will ultimately enrich our lives.

An influential and inspirational presence, Thich Nhat Hanh is affectionately known as Thay (pronounced “Tay” or “Tie”) by his students, which is the Vietnamese word for teacher. He influenced my own personal journey into consciousness as well as that of numerous others, and I have found that his key teaching is that, “through mindfulness, we can learn to live happily in the present moment, which is the only way to truly develop peace, both in one’s self and in the world.”

The Plum Village.org website talks about mindfulness as, “the energy of being aware and awake to the present moment. It is the continuous practice of touching life deeply in every moment of daily life. To be mindful is to be truly alive, present and at one with those around you and with what you are doing. We bring our body and mind into harmony while we wash the dishes, drive the car or take our morning shower.”

From my perspective, as we become more aware and mindful of our own personal power, we are better able to make conscious choices, and give ourselves permission to take control of our destiny instead of leaving it up to fate.

Life can be found only in the present moment. The past is gone, the future is not yet here,
and if we do not go back to ourselves in the present moment, we cannot be in touch with life.
~
Thich Nhat Hanh

By shifting perception of an experience, the experience itself will change, including those in the past, the ones that are presently occurring and those that have yet to happen. This transformation involves altering one’s mindset and attitude as well as being mindful of one’s thoughts, words and actions – the energetic emission that radiates from each one of us.

Even This I Got to Experience

Even This I Got to Experience

sedona 2As I mentioned in a previous blog, “Take a Vacation with a Purpose,” I was delighted to have the opportunity to interview Glenn Scarpelli and Jerry Gilden for an issue of OMTimes magazine. Engaging in conversation prior to going live on-air for the radio show, I immediately connected with these two wonderful men and knew that I needed to attend their event, Sedona World Wisdom Days.

This was my first visit to Sedona although I’ve visited Tucson and several other cities in Arizona as well as the Grand Canyon. The red rocks are a site to behold and the energy vortexes are palpable. As part of the VIP ticket, I had tickets to the movie screenings of The Redwood Highway and The Power of the Heart. Both of these movies are transforming and heart-opening.

The event opened Friday night, January 16 with musical guest Rickie Byars Beckwith and conscious comedy with Geri Jewell. Then, Glenn and Mackenzie Phillips shared a conversation with television icon Norman Lear, who recently wrote his memoir, Even This I get to Experience. An engaging and delightful man, Norman shared stories from his life and television shows, including All in the Family, One Day at a Time and Maude.

norman galleryAt one point during the evening, he stated as he pointed to the audience, “You are here for me.” The room filled with cheers and clapping hands. He paused and stated, “And I am here for you.” He conveyed, “I’ve spent the last 92 years to be here to experience this moment with you. And you’ve spent however many years to experience this moment with me.”

The weekend continued with numerous speakers sharing their own personal journey into consciousness, empowerment and living in the heart space. Conscious comedian Kyle Cease had me laughing throughout his presentation of “Life is a Playground.” Some of my favorite presentations included Arielle Ford’s “Manifest Your Heart’s Desire,” Claire Zammit’s “How to Awaken Your Feminine Power,” Dr. Sue Morter’s “What’s Next is NOW and Charlie Lustman’s “Made me Nuclear – A Story of Hope.” In addition, I thoroughly enjoyed James Twyman’s “Are YOU a Soul Manifester?” and Barbara Marx Hubbard’s “The Emergence of the Feminine & Masculine Co-Creators – Signs of the Emerging Species.”

norman learSaturday night, Goldenstein Gallery hosted a “Sweet and Greet” VIP book party with Norman Lear. Norman shared excerpts from his book. One of my favorite moments was when someone sneezed and many people said, “Bless you.” The individual sneezed again and the bless you’s were forthcoming. Norman stated very matter of factly “Okay, enough of that” in an Archie Bunker character tone to which everyone erupted in laughter.

The weekend culminated in a songversation with India.Arie. She shared her journey through words and song. The weekend was transformative, healing, empowering and energized with love. Even Sedona I got to experience!
